The Brave Don’t Blame Circumstances Neither Yield Nor Compromise
〰️➖🌹➖〰️
👉 It is often understood that as one’s resources and wealth increase, so does their moral stature and virtues. This belief stems from the notion that people consider themselves as helpless puppets in the hands of circumstances. They believe that circumstances alone determine whether one turns out good or bad. However, this line of thought is flawed. Neither does a person automatically become good in favorable circumstances nor bad in adverse ones. Even the poorest of the poor, if they have faith in moral virtues, do not succumb to adversities, and no matter how wealthy someone is, if they lack moral integrity, they are weak. They can’t resist falling into the abyss of downfall even in the most favorable conditions.
👉 There are countless incidents where it can be said that the circumstances facing an individual were such that committing a crime would not have been unnatural considering their environment. Yet, they remained steadfast. This is because, morally, they were masters of strong and powerful souls who saved themselves from walking the wrong path in adverse circumstances. Conversely, even affluent individuals commit major thefts and dishonesties despite having abundant resources. Although they could have lived a luxurious life without resorting to dishonesty, they couldn’t.
👉 This fact falsifies the statement that humans are slaves to circumstances and are compelled to walk the path of downfall under their influence. The well-known and famous example is that of “King Harishchandra” who, even after losing his kingdom, remained faithful to his word and duty. He did not accept crossing the boundaries of duty for the sake of his family. “Rana Pratap,” wandering in the jungles after losing his kingdom, could have easily verbally accepted Akbar’s dominance and gathered all comforts for himself. But considering preaching and practicing as one, even the idea of “Rana Pratap” seemed against “self-esteem,” and he ate grass for his ideals throughout his life.
