The speed of actions is very intense.

👉 Many times, events occur in the world that seems contrary to divine justice. A virtuous person lives a life of poverty, while another infamous wrongdoer revels in mischief. A hardworking, simple farmer, who carries bundles, faces kicks, while a cunning person who contemplates ways to plunder the wealth of others becomes a showy saint. Such occurrences have increased in the present time, leading to the sentiment in people’s hearts that discussions of soul, God, the world beyond, and sins and virtues are entirely meaningless. One should focus only on achieving self-interest. Due to such feelings, people fall into various illusions and start performing inappropriate actions, not understanding their faults, and shirking responsibility by blaming others.

👉 To avoid this harmful situation, we need to gain knowledge of the secrets of action, understanding how the effects of our auspicious and inauspicious actions continue to influence our inner self or conscience, sometimes manifesting immediately and sometimes after a long time. When we analyze the actions that bring happiness and sorrow, they are classified into three types – accumulated (Sanchit), destined (Prarabdha), and current (Kriyaman). Happiness is the natural state of human beings. Performing good deeds is inherent, so attaining happiness is also natural. Pain is in suffering. People fear and worry about suffering and want to be free from it. Therefore, it is appropriate to analyze only sorrows here. Just as there are separate scriptures for health and medical science, there are also two separate scriptures for happiness and sorrow. Happiness should be increased by practicing righteousness, just as nutritious substances are consumed for health. For the cessation of sorrow, it is necessary to understand, diagnose, and treat it, just as one would for a disease. Knowledge of the profound speed of karma helps us understand the essence of sorrows. By letting go of the causes of sorrows, their natural cessation occurs.
